Larry Lee Thompson, age 77, of Baltic, passed away on Wednesday, October 13, 2021, at the Dells Area Hospital in Dell Rapids. A memorial gathering was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the Minnehaha Funeral Home, Baltic. Interment will be at a later date at Pioneer Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic.
Larry was born on February 2, 1944, to Reuben and Alma (Krogstad) Thompson at the Dell Rapids Community Hospital. Larry grew in Baltic and graduated from Baltic High School. He enlisted in the Army National Guard in 1964. After six years of service, he joined the Navy Seabees and served with them for one and a half years. Larry was truck driver for over 40 years. He worked for Golden Sun Feeds, Nash Finch and Mail Dizco. He owned and operated Double T Bar & Grill in Baltic for four years. He was a former member of the Crooks Gun Club and the Baltic Volunteer Fire Department and was a member of the Baltic American Legion. He liked to joke around. Larry also enjoyed working in his garden, fishing, and being with family.
Larry is survived by his wife, Betty, Baltic; sons: Todd (Deanna) Thompson, and Troy (Ann) Thompson, both of Baltic; grandchildren: Derek (Julia Wipf) Thompson, Sioux Falls, Matthew (Mikayla Heard) Thompson, Baltic, and Abby Thompson, Baltic; and good friend, Roger Hoiland.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Richard; and grandson, Adam.
