Larry Eining, 69, of Dell Rapids, formerly of Clear Lake, SD, passed away on Sunday, April 30, 2023 under hospice care. His Mass of Christian Burial was at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, May 4, 2023 in St. Mary Catholic Church, Dell Rapids. Interment will be in the St. Mary Cemetery, Dell Rapids. Visitation with the family present was on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 at Kahler-Brende Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. -7:00 p.m. with the Christian Wake Service beginning at 7:00 p.m.
Larry Lain Eining was born on September 17, 1953 at Mitchell, SD, the son of Bernard “Mac” and Pauline (Schefsky) Eining. He grew up and attended school in Artesian, SD, graduating in 1971. He then attended Mitchell Tech. He married Janice Schroeder on February 16, 1974. The couple made their home in Mitchell where Larry started working for Northwestern Energy. Following Larry’s career with Northwestern the family moved from Mitchell to Brookings and eventually Clear Lake in 1992. He continued to work for Northwestern until 2008 when he started his own business called Larry’s Heating & Repair. He retired in 2019 when the couple moved to Dell Rapids.
He is a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, a past member of both the Mitchell and Clear Lake Fire Departments, and the Clear Lake Lions Club.
Larry enjoyed woodworking, spending time in his shop, bargain hunting, and taking the grandkids fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his grandson, Tyler.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of Dell Rapids; his daughter, Amy (Josh) Halverson of DeSmet; his son Lonnie (Julie) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Alyssa Eining, Zoey Eining and Parker Eining; his step-grandchildren, Taylor (Dane) Caughlin, Hunter Halverson, Katelyn Halverson, Brooklyn Halverson, and Brody Halverson; great granddaughter Nora Halverson; and his siblings, Lynn Eining, Cheryl (Bernardo) Eining, Cindy Chance, and Connie (Darrell) Granbois.
Funeral services were provided by Kahler-Brende Funeral Home.
