Charles Wayne (Chuck) Knutson, age 41, gained his victory through Christ on Saturday, January 20, 2024, following a brave battle against cancer.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 5 p.m. Thursday, January 25, 2024, at First Baptist Church, Clarksville with the Rev. Freddy T. Wyatt officiating. His family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until the hour of service on Thursday at the church. A second service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, February 2, 2024, at First Baptist Church, 1402 T Street, Bridgeport, Nebraska, with Pastor Ray Cook officiating. Fellowship at the church will follow burial with full military honors at Oregon Trail Memorial Cemetery in Bridgeport, Nebraska.
Chuck entered this life on December 2, 1982, in Bridgeport, Nebraska to parents David L. Knutson and Debbie (Harless) Knutson. He graduated high school in 2001 from Flandreau Public high School, Flandreau, South Dakota. After high school, he attended college at the University of Sioux Falls where he competed in cross country and track and field. He graduated in 2006 with a B.S. in Computer Science and joined the U.S. Army, bravely serving his country for 18 years.
While serving as a member of 2nd Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne), Master Seargent Knutson deployed six times to Afghanistan, Iraq, and Jordan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Inherent Resolve. MSG Knutson was the recipient of numerous awards and citations for his bravery, conduct, and professionalism. Chuck and his family were members of Real Life Church in Sango, Tennessee.
In addition to his parents, Chuck is survived by his wife, Heather Harlin Knutson; children, Evelyn and Hazel; brother, Neil (Lorelie) Knutson; mother-in-law, Sandra Friberg; and brother-in-law, Brian (Jenna) Harlin.
