
Elizabeth M. Hinricher, 94, of Flandreau, SD, passed away Monday December 30, 2019 at Avera Flandreau Hospital. Elizabeth (Betty) Margaret was born September 19, 1925 at Sleepy Eye, MN to Eugene and Elizabeth M. (Boever) Hoffman. She attended St. Mary’s School at Sleepy Eye and attained her GED in 1972. Betty worked for a number of families in Minnesota and South Dakota before her marriage to Elmer B. Hinricher on February 17, 1947 in Sleepy Eye. They lived and farmed near Colman, SD from 1947 to 1949 and the Flandreau area from 1949 until they retired. Betty was a member of Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Altar Society, and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas since 1948 and a member of the Catholic Aid Association of Sleepy Eye over 50 years. She was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Egan Unit 97, Extension Club, Flandreau Golf Association and a volunteer at Riverview Manor Nursing Home.
Betty is survived by her husband Elmer, five children, James F. (Marlys) Hinricher, Flandreau; Richard L. (Pat) Hinricher, Sioux Falls; Mary A. (Joe) Schwebach, Flandreau; Patricia E. (Neil) Friedrichsen, Ojai, CA; Lois Johnson, Milford, IA; 12 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law Velma Hoffmann, Sleepy Eye. Betty was preceded in death by her daughter Sharon C. Nygaard, one great-grandson Quinten, her parents, brothers, Leo, Marcel, Arthur, Eddie, Eugene, and sisters, Margaret Bertrand, Hilda Fritz, Ester Miller, Leona Kerkhoff-Branster, and Catherine Terrell.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Friday, January 3, 2020 at Ss. Simon and Jude Catholic Church, Flandreau, with burial in the church cemetery. Visitation is 4:00 – 6:00 pm Thursday with a 6:00 pm scripture service at Skroch Funeral Chapel. www.skrochfc.com.
